What has led to the decline in the piano market? As mentioned before, the reasons for the decline in the piano market include changes in the economic environment, the irregularity of the piano education market, and the intensification of market competition. Peer competition is not the main problem. Peer competition will only make the piano industry in China better and better and enable "Made in China" to go global. The most significant problem for the current decline is closely related to the country's education policy. In 2008, the Ministry of Education issued a new measure requiring that every student who achieves a score of 9 or higher in the piano test will receive an additional 10 points in the college entrance examination.

This led many parents to start cultivating their children's musical literacy. They rushed to buy pianos and sign up for training courses, making the piano industry prosperous for many years. However, in 2021, the Ministry of Education of China issued a notice stating that starting from 2024, ordinary colleges and universities will no longer offer bonus points for art students. Coupled with the impact of the "Double Reduction" policy, the market value of the piano industry plummeted. More than 7,000 training institutions across the country closed, and the entire piano industry was in depression. This once-acclaimed "king of music" and noble toy pursued by countless people has thus gone from being popular to unpopular.

Looking back, the piano, as a symbol of elegant art, was sought after by many families and music lovers. With economic development and people's emphasis on art education, the demand for the piano market continued to grow. Major piano brands emerged like bamboo shoots after a spring rain, and the industry developed vigorously.

However, times have changed, and multiple factors have jointly led to the current situation.

The changes in the economic environment cannot be ignored. In recent years, the overall economic situation has faced many challenges. Consumers' disposable income has been affected to a certain extent. For relatively expensive consumer goods like pianos, the willingness to purchase has declined. The intensification of market competition is also one of the important reasons. The influx of a large number of new brands has led to the dispersion of market shares, frequent price wars, and the continuous compression of profit margins.

In addition, the irregularity of the piano education market has also had a negative impact. Some unprofessional training institutions and teachers have caused some learners to lose interest and confidence in the piano, indirectly affecting the sales of pianos.

However, we should not despair about the future of China's piano industry because of this. There are still opportunities in difficulties.

Although the development path of China's piano industry is tortuous, as long as we can face the problems squarely and respond actively, we believe that it can still regain its glory in the future and play beautiful music again.
