Recently, the bankruptcy and restructuring of the German factory of Grotrian Steinweg, a piano brand with 189 years of history, has shaken the instrument market.
As one of the top eight piano brands in the world, Gaotian Piano embodies the hard work and dreams of six generations of craftsmen. It also fell into a "crisis" in 2015, "in order to ensure that this national treasure level piano brand, which carries the essence of nearly 200 years of development in the world piano industry, is not forgotten". At that time, China's Perth Music Group (hereinafter referred to as "Perth Music") fully acquired the brand's German factory, and the market also regarded this as the prelude to the rebirth of Gaotian Piano.
In 1835, Gao Tian Piano was born in the small town of Brunswick in central northern Germany. Through continuous research, Gaotian Piano has created a piano that not only saves space but also has a huge leap in sound quality. It stands out from many piano brands in the 19th century and has become the first choice for many music enthusiasts. Famous steel pianists such as Clara Schumann and Gerrick Olsen also enjoy playing with Gaotian pianos.
The Gaotian piano is the most culturally sophisticated piano in the world, "said the famous French pianist Walter Gizekind. The production factory of Gaotian Piano is also known as one of the national treasure level enterprises in Germany. Around 2008, Gaotian Piano entered the Chinese market; In 2015, the main shares of its German factory were sold to Chinese company Perth Music. According to the official website of Perth Music, the group was founded in Hong Kong, China in 1986. It is a comprehensive enterprise integrating instrument manufacturing, sales, education, and culture, and is now one of the seven major instrument retailers in the world.
With regard to the bankruptcy and reorganization of Gaotian Piano's German factory, Perth Music announced on September 23 that due to the global COVID-19 and its subsequent impact, the European high-quality piano market demand declined and the market environment deteriorated, leading to challenges for German factory operations. In order to ensure the continuity of the Gaotian Piano brand, the German factory plans to achieve better development through structural restructuring.
