The era of mechanical pianos and that of foreign electronic pianos are coming to an end soon. For a long time, there has been a saying in the industry that mechanical pianos are irreplaceable. It is completely misleading for children to learn the piano with pianos other than mechanical ones. However, this was broken by Roland electronic pianos a few years ago. As the originator of electronic pianos, Roland invented this kind of electronic piano with a weighted hammer and mechanical structure. Because the touch is very close to that of a grand piano, it quickly became a substitute for the piano.

So what is the structure of this electronic piano? First of all, it is a keyboard that can simulate a mechanical piano. There are two mainstream designs for such a keyboard: one is the weighted keyboard, and the other is the semi-mechanical weighted hammer keyboard. The weighted keyboard is relatively small in size, so it is the most commonly used design in portable electronic pianos. If the weighting is adjusted accurately, a touch very close to that of a mechanical piano can be obtained. And the semi-mechanical weighted hammer keyboard has some mechanical structures similar to those of a mechanical piano. The touch of such a keyboard is even closer to that of a mechanical piano. The design concepts of these two keyboards were first attempted by Roland, but undoubtedly there is not only one design solution. Therefore, several years later, domestic manufacturers entered this field and became stronger and larger in this field.
The Chinese musical instrument manufacturing industry has indeed made remarkable progress and development in fields such as electronic pianos and pianos. China has become one of the largest musical instrument producers in the world, with a relatively high production share of pianos, woodwind instruments, violins, percussion instruments, guitars, and electro-acoustic instruments.
Some Chinese musical instrument manufacturing enterprises have gradually gained recognition in the market by continuously improving technical levels, optimizing production processes, and strengthening quality control.
However, it is still too early to assert that the era of mechanical pianos and foreign electronic pianos is coming to an end. Despite the rapid development of China's musical instrument manufacturing industry, it still faces challenges in the high-end market and certain core technologies. Some foreign brands have advantages in historical heritage, technological accumulation, and brand influence.
In the field of mechanical pianos, pianos of some well-known foreign brands may still have a high level in terms of sound quality, touch, and craftsmanship, and are favored by professional players and music lovers.
Foreign electronic pianos may also maintain certain competitiveness in aspects such as technological innovation, tone reproduction, and high-end products.
The Chinese musical instrument manufacturing industry needs to continue its efforts, increase investment in research and development, enhance technical levels and innovation capabilities, strengthen brand building, and increase the added value and market competitiveness of products. At the same time, consumer demands are also diverse, and different consumers have different considerations regarding the brand, performance, and price of musical instruments.
The Chinese musical instrument manufacturing industry has achieved great success, but to completely surpass foreign brands in the global market, it still needs continuous efforts and improvements in multiple aspects such as technology, quality, and brand. In the future, mechanical pianos, foreign electronic pianos, and Chinese brands may compete together in the market, each meeting the needs of different consumers.
