1. The working principle of portable digital piano
The primary purpose of portable digital pianos is to imitate the feel and tone of the acoustic piano as much as possible.
About the touch
In acoustic pianos, strings, hammers, and keys work together to produce sound. When the keys are pressed, the hammer is driven to strike the corresponding strings, which vibrates and makes a sound.
Electric steel does not have strings and hammers, so in order to restore the touch and playing experience of the acoustic piano, it will use methods such as increasing the weight of the keys to simulate the keyboard performance of real steel. The keybed technology used by each family is different, which results in a different feel when playing.
About timbre
To reproduce the sound of an acoustic piano, Electrosteel uses two techniques: sampling and physical modeling.
Sampling techniques use audio recordings (aka samples) of musical instruments to generate sounds, and the better the samples and techniques, the more realistic and accurate the sound will be.
Physical modeling is basically to reproduce the sound of a piano from scratch, reproducing the physical behavior of an acoustic instrument through modeling technology and software, and hundreds of elements interacting to form a sound close to the natural tone of the piano.
Sampling is still a popular technique, but some kind of modeling is often superimposed on top of the sample to further tweak it to make it sound more natural.
Nowadays, the tone produced by portable digital pianos can be very close to real steel.
