Famous pianist Wang Yujia will attend a performance titled "Celebrating MTT with Wang Yujia" with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Michael Tilson Thomas on February 1, 2025.
Wang Yujia, a Chinese pianist, was admitted to the Hamburg Conservatory of Music and Drama in 2007 to study piano performance. Afterwards, she won multiple awards in international piano competitions. Wang Yujia responded to the national "the Belt and Road" initiative and embarked on an international art road. She has been invited to perform as a soloist at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and has also performed at music festivals and concerts in countries such as Italy, Belgium, Germany, and Austria.

Michael Tilson Thomas joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1969 and became the conductor of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra in 1974, a position he held until 2013. He has been invited to serve as a guest conductor for several important orchestras, including the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
Michael Tilson Thomas has been a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic family for over fifty years. To commemorate his 80th birthday, the orchestra will work with this world-renowned pianist to select his music and other classic pieces, paying tribute to the former principal guest conductor.
Wang Yujia will play Planck's witty and humorous "Four Hand Sonata" on the piano with Tilson Thomas. The two will then convey the vitality of the swing era through Gershwin's original jazz band version of "Rhapsody in Blue" and Tilson Thomas' "Do You Come Here Often?" in the "Boogie Woogie Style".
